This Special Issue of Anthropological Theory traces the sociospatial forms of security and state making across several sites and spatial scales. My co-authored introduction with Setha Low, “A Sociospatial Framework for the Anthropology of Security,” provides a substantial intervention in the field of the anthropology of security, outlining a framework for integrating critical geography and the analytic of scale into ethnographic studies of security. The edited volume includes articles from some of the most prominent anthropologists of security, with contributions by Joseph Masco, Setha Low, Catherine Besteman, Manissa Maharawal, Kristin Monroe, and Catherine Lutz.
